We had a great Christmas this year. It seemed to go by too fast but we had a lot of fun. We did all of our normal traditions such as opening up our Christmas PJ's on Christmas Eve, making mom a burned hockey puck of a steak to eat with shrimp, cleaning up so that Santa might leave us an extra present, and watching Elf with Will Ferrel. We also added dipping pretzels with the boys on Christmas Eve. I don't know how much candy actually made it to the pretzels because when I looked over the boys where making short work of it. Christmas Eve was very nice and the kids where so excited for the next day that it became nearly all the "excited" that we could handle without being forced to give the gift of child abuse. Jamen was so "excited" that he kept saying things like "why is this day taking so long?" and "I just wish it was night now...." ah, nothing like quality family time during the holidays. They set out the normal Santa snack of pizza rolls and diet Dr. Pepper (because Santa would be a fruit cake if he really wanted something dumb like cookies and milk) and then they all "slept" in the same room for the night. Mike left them with strict instructions for the next morning of not coming out until 7:00 a.m. and that they couldn't come down the stairs until they were told they could at the risk of time being added on their "come down stairs" schedule. The next morning was full of questions like; "is it time yet?", "can we come down now?", "who farted?", and "when can we see our presents?". Mike took his sweet sweet time doing all the "necessary" Christmas morning chores such as building a fire, getting dressed (including special sock selection...you can't rush a good thing), finishing the monkey bread (another discussion for another time), and talking to my sister on the phone. They were all dieing. Finally they got to come down and it was a lot of fun. Christmas was a great "relaxing" day of movies, and just hanging out.
