Laila June

10 things I have learned from my Laila June:
1.) It is possible to stink and smell like cupcakes at the same time.
2.) It is possible to be crazy beautiful while covered in mud and grass stains, and have a fuzzed out mess on top of your head.
3.) It is possible to simultaneously terrify and comfort your dad about your future.
4.) Moderation is good in all things.... except for the color pink. One should wear as much pink as humanly possible, even in layers, eat pink foods to make sure there is enough pink on the insides, talk about pink things, and then afterwards, claim your favorite color is turquoise.
5.) There is no excuse or reason to worry or be angry for longer than 11 total minutes.
6.) Loving other people is fun.
7.) A soft kiss on the cheek at the right moment can change a person's whole week.
8.) A precisely "squeasy" hug, "that one smile," and a perfectly timed "I love you dadman" has the power to simultaneously get one out of 195% of the trouble they were in, and to make their dad want to be a better dad, a better man, and to work hard to make the world a better place.
9.) Loving people all the time, especially when they don't deserve it all the time, makes that person want to work harder deserving it all the time.
10.) Every imperfect, struggling, trying/failing/trying, cranky when he shouldn't be, frustrated, "work in progress" mess of a dad needs a Laila June to make their world seem sweeter, mistakes seem smaller, and the future seem brighter, all while making the struggle of being better seem not only possible, but worth the try...no matter how big of a mess all your failing seems to make.
Oh how I love this Laila June
