J-Dizzle

August 10, 2013, and Jamen turns ten.  Double digits, the first of its kind in the Barker clan.  Jamen is a regular trend setter, and always the example for his siblings.  Jamen is a smart boy, but a humble leader.  It's not uncommon to hear him mumble something under his breath like "why must everyone always be fighting."  Recently, the boys were given a choice between two activities.  Noah and Wiley were at odds, and there was a stone cold impasse.  Noah wisely consulted with Jamen about how he could break the impasse in his favor.  Jamen took Noah aside, gave him a few pointers, and when Noah returned, he began to explain to Wiley that Wiley's choice was the stupid choice.  Jamen interrupted,  reminding Noah, he's never going to change his mind if you talk to him like that.  Remember?  Try being nice to him.  Try talking to him the nice way.  Noah winced, twisted, vibrated, and finally forced his crabby face into a smile (of sorts) and began telling Wiley the reasons that his idea was a good one, and that Wiley would benefit in various ways.  Jamen sat back and smiled, content with the kindness and the peace.  Ten years with Jamen and we have never ended a day without being amazed with his quiet wisdom and his gentle heart. We couldn't love our Jamen any more than we do.  Happy Birthday Jamen!
